Workshop on Thesis Writing

Course content

This course prepares third semester MA students across all disciplines in the Department to work independently on their MA thesis, giving them the opportunity to develop and define a thesis topic and formulate a draft of their thesis statement. Students will be introduced to the formal requirements and academic demands of working on an MA thesis including defining and delimiting a viable topic, formulating a thesis statement, searching for relevant academic literature, research project development, academic integrity, and working with a supervisor. At the end of the third semester, students will be assigned a supervisor based on their chosen topic so that their thesis contract can be signed before the start of the fourth semester

“The workshop sessions alternate between short presentations with instructions and examples, exercises, and dialogue between the instructor and participants. In each session, participants work actively and in depth with writing
