Course content
The aim of the course is to provide students with an introduction to the core concepts, issues, and methods within the field of human–computer interaction. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical design, development, and evaluation

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate:
Knowledge and understanding of
- The historical emergence and development of interactive systems
- How humans perceive, understand, use, and experience interactive systems
- User interfaces and their advantages and disadvantages
- Core concepts and models related to usability and user experience, as well as interaction.
Skills in
- Analysing and evaluating existing user interfaces
- Applying methods to identify and understand user needs
- Designing and developing usable components of interactive systems and evaluating these using empirical and analytical techniques
- Methods for understanding the context of technology use and design.
Competences to
- Analyse usability and user experience in interactive systems
- Select and apply appropriate methods for the design and development of user interfaces and justify these choices
- Independently and in collaboration with others, identify, describe, and address problems in user interfaces
- Understand the broader societal consequences of different technologies.
Lectures and plenary discussions, classroom exercises, small group exercises, and project work. Group collaboration and supervision
The course provides ongoing feedback from instructors or teaching staff throughout the semester.

- Ongoing Test.
During the semester, students work in groups to complete three assignments of 5 pages each, covering different parts of the course. In addition, each student individually completes a final 5-page assignment reflecting on their work throughout the course. The format of the assignments is determined by the course instructor.
Regulations for group exams: The first three home assignments are completed in groups of 3–4 students. The fourth and final home assignment is completed individually.
Scope of group exam: The scope is independent of the size of the group.
