Course content

Overview of foundational coaching theories, evidence-based practices, and the evolution of coaching psychology. Focus on current issues, ethical considerations, cultural competency, and practical coaching strategies. Exploration of future trends and innovations to prepare students for emerging challenges and effective, sustainable coaching outcomes.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of a selection of relevant theories within coaching and coaching psychology.
  • Gain a fundamental knowledge of dialog philosophy and psychology.
  • Develop understanding and skills to work as a reflective practitioner within coaching and related forms of dialogue.

 

Competencies:

  • Reflect on the coaching relationship in theory and practice and assess the significance of the relationship in specific contexts.
  • Evaluate theories and develop reflective skills regarding the theory-practice connection, including writing a logbook for a number of completed coaching sessions (logbook entries will be part of the written assignment).
  • Expand the applications of the coaching profession in relation to specific problem-solving.
  • Communicate research-based knowledge and discuss coaching professional and scientific issues.

 

Skills:

  • To be able to relate research and theory to various work and development situations where coaching and coaching psychology may be relevant.
  • To be able to connect theories to practice and apply coaching in practice and relevant contexts at a theory- and evidence-based level.
  • To develop an understanding of one's own role in the coaching context.

Lectures, group assignments, study groups, and exercises.

Litteratur is provided via Absalon.

Academic qualifications equivalent to a BSc degree is recommended.

Oral exam on basis of previous submission, 30 min.
Type of assessment details
Oral group exam (2-4 students) on basis of a 5-page synopsis.
2 students = 30 minutes
3 students = 40 minutes
4 students = 50 minutes

The synopsis is mandatory in order to present at the oral exam

No aids allowed for the oral part.

Re-exam

Re-examination as ordinary.

The re-exam can be taken individually.

A new synopsis is prepared and submitted 2 weeks before the oral re-exam.
