Cancelled Statistical data analysis using the computer program SAS
Course content
The software package SAS is widely used for data handling, descriptive statistics, and statistical modeling. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to (i) use SAS for simple data manipulation, simple descriptive statistics and statistical analysis including linear regression and logistic regression.

The overall goal is that the student has understood the logic of SAS programming and has acquired the following
Skills:
- reading data into SAS, recoding data, describing and analysing simple data sets using SAS
- using SAS for simple statistical analyses, including formulation of statistical models, parameter estimation and relevant statistical tests
- using SAS to compute simple measures of associations, confidence intervals, significance tests and p-values
- using SAS to create contingency tables with relevant percentages and using them to evaluate bivariate associations
- using SAS to at illustrate results graphically
Knowledge:
- the ability to formulate a simple scientific question as a statistical problem og perform the relevant statistical analysis in SAS
- the ability to communicate the results using graphics and tables in a short report
Competences:
- This course will provide the students with a background in SAS programming that can be expanded on.
Lectures, online videos, working with examples where feedback is provided using an online quiz

Written assignmentOral examination
- Type of assessment details
- The exam consists of a written assignment followed by an oral examination without preparation. The written assignment contains a data set and a series of questions. It can be completed individually or in groups of 2 or 3 students. Maximum length is 5 pages for single students and 7 pages for groups (approx. 2400 keystrokes per page including blank spaces, 12 pt fint, 1½ line spacing). The oral examination is individual. The written assignment forms the basis of a discussion using the criterions outlined. The duration of the oral examination is 20 minutes, the first 5-10 minutes based on the written assignment.

Criteria for exam assessment
To get the grade 12 the student must:
Knowledge
-
Be able to formulate a simple problem, in a way that enables quantitative analysis.
Skill
- Compute simple association measures and evaluate their statistical uncertainty.
- Use SAS to adapt and combine relevant variables and study the problem using simple analyses. including confidence intervals, significance tests and p-values.
- Communicate the problem and the results of the analyses in a short report.
- Use SAS to create tables with relevant percentages og based on these evaluate bivariate associations.
- Illustrate results in relevant, graphical form.
