Processing of Seismic and Georadar Data

Course content

The course is focused on basic principles for data quality assessment and processing of seismic and ground-penetrating radar data.

Basic principles and theoretical aspects of different processing methods are presented and discusses during a series of lectures. Students will work with different methodological principles and obtain experience with different processing tools during practical exercise sessions. We will discuss how processing tools can be used to improve signal-to-noise ratios and result in improved geophysical analysis and geological interpretation of the geophysical data.

The aim of the course is that the student should obtain basic insights regarding how typical processing methods work and how they can be applied, so that the student can choose and apply such methods for treatment of real field data.

The student is expected to be able to explain and describe different processing methods, their basic theoretical foundation and applications. The student will obtain theoretical as well as practical skills, which will make the student able to process seismic and georadar data, assess the quality of the data and describe the interpretation potential of the data.
