Practical Archaeology 2

Course content

The course builds on the students' practical experience from the field school, where the students have tried out and experienced the methods and techniques that were taught in the course Practical Archaeology 1. This includes, among other things, excavation and reconnaissance techniques, drawing, surveying and recording, material analysis and typology. The course also involves the students in post-excavation work providing them with an understanding of the post-excavation process. This includes analysing stratigraphy and introduces students to data analysis methods that are integral to archaeological research.

Active participation and assignment submission are mandatory. Active participation includes having taken part in the field-school and a minimum of 50 % presence in the course.
