Elective course - Gender and Individual Differences at Work
Course content
In this class, we will focus on the question of how interindividual differences affect humans in the workplace in various contexts. This seminar will be divided into two blocks targeting important characteristics that humans potentially differ in, one being personality (including topics such as basics of personality assessment, personality in the recruitment process, personality interventions at the workplace, personality and leadership, dark personality), and the other being gender, including topics such as gender bias in recruitment, gender and leadership, and potential solutions to gender discrimination-related problems in the workplace.
In the frame of these topics, the class will offer opportunities for insights and critical reflections on psychological theories and methods, as well as tools used in practice. The students will reflect on their role and responsibility as psychologists with regards to current practices in organizations, and will critically evaluate those from ethical, practical, theoretical, and methodological viewpoints.
