Cancelled Social Inequality in Health and Diseases
Course content
The course focuses on current state of the art knowledge on social inequality in health including both national and international research from a micro and macro perspective. The course will deal will several aspects of health inequalities with focus on its causes, consequences and possible interventions. The course will include methodological perspective on how to assess causes, consequences and possible interventions of social inequality in health with a main focus on social epidemiology. Furthermore, political and ethical aspects of health inequalities will be discussed.

After the course, the students shall be able to understand causes and consequences of social inequality in health as well as possible interventions to reduce social inequality in health from both a micro and macro perspective. The students should be able to critically present, analyse and discuss these both orally and in written form.
After the course, students should be able to:
Knowledge
- The students shall be aquainted with descriptions,
theories and analyses of social inequalities in health, their
causes and consequences as well as challenges to our current
understanding from a social epidemiological perspective.
Skills
- The students shall be able to critically analyse, evaluate and discuss research and interventions on social inequality in health from a social epidemiological perspective. This includes application of different theories and methods.
Competencies
- The students shall be able to analyse, evaluate and discuss issues related to social inequalities in health, their causes, consequences and the measures taken to reduce them.
Lectures and student involving teaching methods.
Collection of articles, reports and book chapters.
Students are supposed and recommended to have knowledge of epidemiology, disease prevention, and health policy analysis and ethics at BA public health science level.
