Japanese Propaedeutics C - CBS (E23)

Course content

Whilst continuing to expand the student’s vocabulary and expression ranges, there is an equally strong focus on applied language use. As such, the course aims to enable the student to communicate in elementary Japanese to lower-intermediate Japanese about topics related to culture and society.

The course provides knowledge regarding appropriate language and formality levels governing social interaction. Students should expect to expand their range of vocabulary according to syllabus covering a total of approximately 645 kanji roughly equivalent to JLPT N3.

Teaching is text- and workbook based, and students will build skills in speaking, reading, writing in Japanese, as well as grammatically analyzing Japanese and translating it into English.

The course activities include text reading, translation, reading aloud, written and oral translation exercises, oral interaction, kanji quizzes, exercises in grammar and syntax analysis.
