Learning outcome

On successful completion of the course, the student is able to:


  • account for the distinction of different conceptions of critique and the role critique plays in social science.
  • relate these conceptions to different ways of conducting critique in different research fields


  • compare and critically discuss these ways.
  • criticize social problems or injustices
  • apply this skill in investigations of the social world.



  • plan and perform research and investigations of different aspects of the social world in which critique plays a crucial role.
  • choose and apply forms of social criticism in a scientific correct way in

Lectures, discussions, presentation and discussions of essay ideas, group work in a concluding workshop
