DCC Danish Architecture and Urban Design
Course content
Danish Architecture and Urban Design is a course offered in English for international students. In Denmark, architecture is seen as a much wider practice than merely the art of making buildings. This course provides an overview of Danish architecture and urban design over the last 100 years, with an emphasis on the human perspective of built environments. Examples of architecture with Nordic approaches to the planning and design of the physical environment will be demonstrated. Culture, climate and scale are some of the important elements to be considered when examining the ways the profession and the Nordic welfare states have been dealing with international influences - translating global currents into local settings. Fieldtrips exploring best practice examples of Danish architecture and urban design support and expand the lectures of this course.
NB: This Danish Architecture and Urban Design course does not directly overlap the course material covered in the Danish Design course. It is thus completely suitable to enroll in both courses in the same semester, if so desired.
