Course content
The purpose of the Individual Study Element (ISE) is for the student to treat in writing a global health problem.
The ISE may be undertaken by 1, 2 or 3 students. Below, please find the numbers of students, ECTS, and pages in the writing, and hours of supervision:

Supervison includes supervisor’s preparation and meeting(s) between students and supervisor, as well as evaluation and examination.
Readings: Min. no. of pages shall be agreed on individually with the supervisor.

MSc programme in Global Health - elective element
The purpose of the ISE is for the student(s) to treat in writing a global health problem. After completion, the student shall be able to:
Knowledge and skills:

Select, explain and discuss a relevant theory;
-
select, explain and apply a relevant scientific method for the global health problem;
-
plan and undertake an individual analysis in relation to the problem, and critically evaluate the results;
-
conclude, critically discuss and putting in perspective the knowledge coming from the research undertake;
-
identify and select a global health problem to be studied;
-
plan, undertake and document a structured and focused literature search, and retrieve relevant literature;
Competences:
- undertake a logic, cohesive and well-documented argumentation, from problem formulation over analysis to the conclusion; document ability to academic writing.
Only supervision
Students must have passed 22,5 ECTS of the mandatory courses in the MSc in Global Health
An Individuel Study Element must be pre-approved by the Study Board for Public Health Science and Global Health. After pre-approval the student will automatically be registered for the exam.

Criteria for exam assessment
To achieve the maximum grade of 12, the student must be able to:
