KIN, Chinese society and politics (F21)

Course content

This course aims to to provide students with a nuanced understanding of contemporary Chinese society and politics by exploring a range of political and social issues as they are described in English and Chinese texts and by discussing the theories and methods that have been applied to them.

The lectures focus on presentation and discussion of academic literature, while the text reading classes focus on the reading, translation and analysis of materials in Chinese. In addition, the CBS students have two weekly lessons to train conversational skills in Chinese, and the KU students have two weekly lessons on methods in China studies.
