English - Elective 3, topic 2: Remainders and Repetitions in British Fiction

Course content

This course looks at the inheritance of the British past in some recent and not so recent British novels, focusing particularly on novels that deliberately re-write earlier texts.  Thematically, we will be interested particularly in fictions that make houses the scene of inheritance, attachment, or renewal.
